Australia has shown a deep desire to address the prevalence of eating disorders worldwide through prevention efforts and increased access to treatment. The country developed a proposed National Strategy on Body Image in 2009 to combat negative body talk and negative messages in the media. Through increased awareness and legislation, Australia and its Eating Disorder Treatment are becoming world leaders in the field of eating disorders.

From Ripples to Rivers: ​How Far We’ve Come

August 20-21: Australia & New Zealand Academy for Eating Disorders (ANZAED) 2021 Annual Conference. 

Details: This year we will be offering a hybrid format conference that will allow both in-person and live online attendance options, and we have streamlined the program to best suit this new model. An adjusted and slightly streamlined program has been prepared to best meet our delegates’ needs. We are still planning to proceed with a live conference and are hopeful delegates from all across Australia and New Zealand will be able to join us for this, especially since we have not been able to meet in person since Adelaide 2019. In the event that meeting in-person is not feasible we will live stream the conference and also host satellite streamed events in some other locations (pending COVID-19 related restrictions within each state) to facilitate local gatherings.
